Dont want to get into the KegLand/Keg King debate, and all the bad naming product stuff, seen it before elsewhere ending up in pages of bulls@t most not interested in and nothing really useful

Wonder if worth creating a separate post and those who are interested in reading about that stuff and commenting can talk about it... till they have lost the will to live
Nothing wrong with this thread, aptly named, of course you have a vested interest in selling the FermZilla, just keep your fingers crossed that no one gets injured using one which you have sold. As I said previously the onus falls onto the importer not the manufacturer.
And it isn't about bad naming the photos of the incidents involving the fermzilla speak for themselves.

Quick question that I am hoping someone can give me a definitive answer to... So I have just made my first brew in the snubnose. At present, there is still the yeast cake and some beer atop of it. I want to use the yeast cake to ferment my next brew. Do I drain out the small amount of beer, leaving pretty much the whole yeast cake behind, and just pour the next wort in? Or do I drain the beer and some of the yeast cake before adding new wort?

I am thinking if I leave the entire yeast cake as is, it will double in size when the second batch has finished fermenting.

One of the guys over here his wife made a Terrarium out of the FermZilla.

Depends what you brewed in the initial batch if it was a strong beer the yeast will be spent, the idea is to brew something of lower ABV first, use the yeast for a stronger beer afterwards I generally rinse mine to get rid of the dead yeast then use it plenty of people just dump the following batch on the trub, others will reduce the trub to a third of its volume. Lots of choices to play with.
 
Unfortunately I don't think there is such a thing as failsafe with any of these plastic pressure fermenters. They are good value for money, but there is always going to be issues.

I'm not interested in fermenting under pressure and quelle surprise I've had no issues with leaks etc.
The gen 3 Fermenter King is designed that if the valve is closed on the collection bottle and pressure builds up then it simply pushes the plunger valve up into the main tank which is protected by a PRV at 35 psi. Each of the tanks are tested to 5 bar and in destructive tests usually go well above 8 bar. So I think that is a failsafe design. Not a single one has exploded.
 
Before I buy one, does anyone have any suggestions as to which pressure relief valve I should buy? The one I have is winding me up. I am thinking of getting the keg land blow tie but then isn't keg land the company that makes the fermzilla? Are their relief valves as sturdy as their fermenters aren't (going by the amount of photos of broken ones)?
Looks like what you need is a spunding valve rather than a PRV. Keg King does indeed have these
 
Yes, I think we first ordered them just over a year ago now and now ordering 2nd Generation Fermzilla with 100s sold. All the other UK suppliers probably similar, there are much bigger suppliers here than us selling Fermzillas

But do see all the big known suppliers in America, suppliers across Europe and UK, possibly elsewhere in the world all sell KegLand products and Fermzilla. So really was about the difference between that huge international market compared to those sold mostly just into Australia over that whole period

Don't have their sales figures so who knows, could be wrong but I would have thought there are much more Fermzillas sold..dont you?
Sounds like you are believing what AMCO Technology (aka www.kegking.cn) is feeding you. The Fermentasauri are not hurting people and their descendents the Fermenter King G3 and family are getting a pretty good following seeing that they are not only better but also cheaper. Known suppliers across America and Europe have been selling these things and they are getting the blowback from people with leaky and dangerous pressure fermenters. We did try to offer you ours but as you recall you did not want it and chose the Chinese stuff instead.

Maybe now is a good time to create a new post so people can avoid all nonsense. Seen it before, it’s just a load BS no one wants to read about that will decend into pages of Keg King propaganda

People want to know so when they ask I am happy to respond. You were the one with Kegland "Propaganda" so I answered it appropriately and truthfully.
 
The point was making is that the number of Fermzilla sold is a lot more than the number of Fermentasaurus. They have not been here for some time, some early ones yes but the numbers are nothing compared to Fermzilla

You are only just starting selling into Europe now. It’s avalaible for everyone to see, there posts about them being on boats for the first time heading to European outlets now

The big equipment suppliers in America are selling Fermzilla. You have predominantly been selling in Australian market and the reason for there being lot more Fermzilla sold than Fermentasaurus is down to Fermzilla international disrubution

That was the only point was making but it’s now going to go downhill about the whole kegland/kegking BS and your own sales proganda as have seen happen before

Got mine from you last October, no complaints. Would recommend to anyone as I've said here. But would also say anyone wanting to do pressure fermenting dont just jump in, read about it, watch youtube videos. I think that's where a lot of accidents are happening.

I brewed a 5.5% pale ale. Was planning on brewing either a 6ish% neipa or 9% IBS next.

I understand that you are committed to the sales of the FermZilla and bad publicity does harm sales but if a punter purchases FermZilla he doesn't want to be putting himself or his family in danger, and there are lots of brewers with young children. These units are dangerous goods. If they were manufactured to a better, and a safer standard we would not be seeing all these images from facebook pages from different countries around the world.
It isn't just one or two there have been plenty, enough to send alarm bells ringing, be it the consumers mistake or bad design and manufacture, we have seen both. the onus falls directly on you.

Consider your responsibility for product safety
  • If you import a product from outside the EU, you could be held liable for any harm or loss caused if it is unsafe.
  • If you import from within the EU, primary liability for any harm will normally fall on the manufacturer, provided you do not modify or 'own brand' the product. However, this may be affected by Brexit.
  • As part of the supply contract, you may want to ask the supplier to indemnify you against any claim for damages as a result of a faulty product.
  • You are legally required to take reasonable steps to ensure that any product you sell is safe, regardless of who produces the product or where it comes from.
 
Ok, going to dip back in quickly to say a couple of things.

First up, I bought my saurus April 2019, and they had been around for a while the UK at that point, do a search on here alone and you will find posts from owners of them quite early on, but my understanding is that somebody else was making them originally, then there was a dispute, blah blah blah.

Next, and final point. If anybody really wants to build an informed opinion on these products, I would suggest doing your own research, use Google and search. Don't rely on statements and posts made here. I did so, and I can tell you that you will find positive and negative posts and reviews for BOTH products. Oh and yes, people have had buckets explode before now, usually when they used a diddy airlock and it got blocked with trub from an active fermentation, then BOOM! Krausen on the ceiling. Use any product badly, or just get unlucky, and things can and will go wrong. Heck, misuse an iron bar and it can go wrong on you.... There's no such thing as fool proof, there is always a bigger fool out there waiting to prove the claim wrong. The biggest fool is the one who doesn't do their own product research before purchasing.
