I add my hops to the wort loose in the boiler, when it's cooked I usually just pour the lot through a sieve.

My friend is an engineer and can make anything I come up with!

I'm thinking of sitting a perforated false bottom that sits just above the tap hole, then I can just pour the wort through tap and tube into fermenter.

What's your thoughts? Do you think it will affect the vigorous boil?

I use an ordinary catering boiler (burco)

Cheers phil.

Its a good idea, Geterbrewed sell them separately or with their kits and you can buy them as a separate thing from Home Brew Store, so i'm guessing they must work. If your friend can make you one for nothing then go for it, it just needs to be a fine sieve that sits above the tap level keeping the mash bag and free hops away from the heating element.
