External Immersion Heater

Saw this gadget, which I have never seen before, but apparently quite popular in Irish water heating systems. Anyway I also found a thread on Jims about it. Looks very fit for purpose for our uses.

I also wondered if it could be used as a direct inline heater to the mash tun rather than use an HLT? Don't have any details of flow rates etc, but looks like an interesting concept.

Your description is exactly what it is. But as for free, I have never seen one in mainland UK. Seems they are mainly used in NI and Ireland. I was thinking they may be a good way to heat the HLT rather than in a HERMS system.
