This weekend is going to be quite exciting for me. I finally got my bottling bucket and little bottler so I'm going to try my hand at batch priming XD also iv gathered my ingredients for my next brew. Iv got a coopers IPA kit, 1kg of crystal malt, 500g of extra light dme, 1kg of beer enhanser and 100g of cascade leaf hops. Im trying to get close to a double IPA. Here is my recipe let me know if it will be ok please:

Steep 500g of crystal for 60 mins in 6ltrs of water
Add 300g of dme
Add 10g cascade at 60 mins (for a little added bitterness)
Add 25g cascade at 5 mins
Pour into fv with 1kg of beer enhanser and IPA kit

Iv saved the remaining dme for priming

Any good? Am I even close?

Cheers

Me, I'd up the cascade. but that's just me. you might benefit from a hot water steep - steep a good amount in 60c water for 30 mins and then add the tea to the brew. that's basically how aroma hops work as they're in the brew whilst it's cooling - but it's just a suggestion. looks great, good luck with it!

I was thinking about doing a 'hop tea' and just adding that but as I am steeping grains I thought I may aswell add some dme and do a full boil and add the hops for aroma at the end. Iv never added my own hops before so I really am unsure of the amount to add for aroma :S

You could also consider a little dry-hop with some of the cascade for a real zingy hop hit...

I think you're definitely on the right lines with this - I predict a decent pint! :thumb:

well, some beers are as low as 10g depending on what it is...you can never have enough cascade though  I usually do 20g/gallon for IPAs.

boiling the DME is not a bad idea, it goes through the hot break and boils off DMS (corn/butter taste.) :thumb:

Thanks guys it sounds like I'm on the right path then. The idea of this came to me when I went into a taphouse by me (sadlers , Windsor castle) and tried their double IPA. It was REALLY hoppy but not like other ales iv had. It was pleasent and not overpowering. And it was 8.3% I'm not going to match the abv but would love to get that hop flavour and aroma.
