Sancho hasn't got a look in
Looks to have had a very good season for Dortmund as well, definitely something a bit odd about his exclusion - Southgate said he wanted to protect the inexperienced players when asked about it but has used both Bellingham and Saka who are both younger than Sancho.

I don't think he trusts him to do the defensive work.

If he played the exciting young attackers and we got slaughtered everyone would be saying why did the useless git play all those young attackers and leave us wide open at the back, he cannot win whatever team he puts out as there is always someone who will pull it to bits.

England shaky to start but turned it around to have a better period of possession and a few chances. Kept pressing once the front 4 had it, but always going backwards with the defensive 7. Germany somewhat disorganised but looking to capitalise on long balls through the middle.
Can't call this one.

Stirling starts the move and finishes it 1 - 0 England.

GOAL - England 1-0 Germany
75 mins

Raheem Sterling
England strike first! Wembley erupts!
Jack Grealish is involved, spreading the ball wide to Luke Shaw, whose low ball is superb - bang on the money for England's chief goalscorer.
Time stands still, the country freezes, and Sterling side-foots in. Cue bedlam!

Get in Harry you proved me and a lot of England fans wrong.

GOAL - England 2-0 Germany
Harry Kane

AND THAT, MY BEAUTIFUL FRIENDS, IS THAT!
It's sweet, so, so sweet. England have space to attack and they do it with aplomb. Jack Grealish is found wide left and his cross is perfect for Harry Kane to head in.]
He's waited and waited and has timed his moment to absolute perfection.

7 defensive players 😩

Saka deserves his start. Hard to drop sterling after scoring but I would start Jack grealish

Back 3 and two holding centre mids, so negative. Grealish had to start. We're doomed, doomed I tell yee.

The only way that could be more defensive would be to play two goalkeepers!

I am not Southgate's greatest fan (i have said so in the thread) but all credit to him for sticking to his plan.

I hope the anti Sterling lot will now shut the **** up.
