Hello all just popped the lid off my latest brew for a final gravity check and it is now down to 1008. This site however greeted me

I'm presuming this isn't infection as it smells and tastes fine and it is just floating yeast grains or floating remnants of the hop powder ?

Is that the Admirals?

If it is I wouldn't worry too much, mine did the same but to a lesser extent, it could easily just be a property of the yeast that makes it do that. I just bottled mine leaving the crud floating/stuck to the side.

It's a cracker of a pint when it's ready. :thumb:

It sure is mate , funny thing is when I checked yesterday there was nothing but froth on top and then this happened over night.

It is fine :thumb: . Leave it a few more days at ferm temp so that the yeast eat up any diacetyles then cool it to settle ready for bottling. If you have a second FV it is worth while dropping it into that. :thumb: :thumb:

Cheers lads I didn't think it was nasty just didn't look to appealing ! It's been in the primary for 2 weeks with the intention of racking to a secondary today. I will give it 2 more days to see if it clears.

Still has the tang too it my stout had though which I hated :-( hopefully this should dissapear in the bottle , but it didn't with my stout :-/

It's hard to describe Vossy , I treated all my water with campden tablets. It's a tang like you get with a strong beer but not as nice.

How long had your stout been in the bottle before you threw it?

Just took a temp reading of my brewing cupboard at its 20 'c at the moment. On the night it's around 18'c.

...and what was the reason for lobbing it again?
over carbonated / tasted foul.

Ah, fair enough. If you just have a bit of THBT (That HomeBrew Tang) then it's always worth leaving it a good few months. But foul sounds a bit more serious than that!

It was really over powering mate all tang no taste . Hopefully this one will pull through , I am only going by the trial jar swig.

You should be fine, it really is a good pint. I would give it a good couple of months before cracking the first one though.

That's fine mate as its being made to take camping on August bank holiday. I will have to wait til then for the moment of truth. That right there is the definition of torture !
