Not really equipment but relevant to electric AIO brewers I think.
I found out by accident that my energy supplier Green Network Energy has ceased trading. Simplicity Energy has also gone belly up at the same time. No notice was received from GNE. As they had 460,000 customers chances are that other members are in the same position & wouldn’t like a nasty surprise in their bills.

If you are with one of these firms Ofgen will allocate a new supplier but we can switch to one of our choice if required. For anyone in the same position as us it’s easier to let the transfer finish any your account balance me moved over than try to join a new provider now.

The same thing happened to me a couple of years back. I was with an independent supplier called Extra Energy and received an email from them saying that I would shortly be out of contract and was able to sign up to a new tariff with them or another supplier, otherwise my tariff would increase. It was probably a couple of months before I looked around and signed up with a new supplier, but whilst the changeover was in progress Extra Energy went bust.

Net result, the change happened smoothly, but I did receive a small refund from extra energy (or their liquidators) about a year later.

I was with Tonik energy who went into administration in October 2020. Ofgem appointed Scottish Power to take over and the process all went very smoothly without me doing anything despite them putting me on an “exclusive“ tarrif/plan which was about 30% higher than the Tonik one. Annoyingly you have to bite the bullet and wait until the transfer is fully complete before moving and that took almost 2 months. Then shop around. It helps if you know how much gas and electricity you use and just look for those with the lowest cost per KWh and standing charge and not rely on putting the size of your house into an online calculator. Then when you’ve found the best one for you go through Quidco or TopCashback to sign up. I went with OVO energy Through Quidco. Minimum 12 months, fixed prices and £84 cash back.
