Hi ladies and gents, I'm new to the industry and to the forum so please go steady on me lol.

I seem to have a ongoing problem with the ciders I'm brewing.
I'm using Magnum's cider, my first batch turned out gorgeous (apple) but my second and third batch have both turned out with a egg smelling aroma. When I spoke to the shop they said it was a chemical reaction and not too throw it just to stir it vigorously for several hours leave for 12 hours then bottle. I followed all instructions as they said but it still has a little eggy smell and the taste is ok... but why is this happening and is there anything I can do to take the smell away better...???

I noticed that my first batch brewed normal through the air lock but the second and third batch it was glugging like it for instance your water tank if you no what I mean.

Thanks Martin

P.S. now I'm a member I'll certainly be picking the brains on here..

Hi and welcome. I'm not a cider maker myself but there are plenty on who are so I'm sure someone can help.

sounds like sulphour, only way to remove is to leave or referment with healthy happy yeast- happended cos yeast was underfed or otherwise stressed-

personally i would leave it well alone for a month then see whats up- this is why gd old AJ and nutrient makes a nice cider vs kits

Thanks for the quick replies folk.

I don't have the patients for leaving it a month to be honest.
Say if it was a one off I wouldn't be bothered but twice in three weeks is crazy. Further investigation said it was sulphur but why??... is it something I'm doing wrong ???? or is it worth phoning the company ???..
