Just thought I would give these guys a mention. Based in Ashford, kent. Been in a couple of times recently, very helpful and a good product range of equipment, kits and ingridients.

£6.99 for 100g of Amarillo!!!

Seems like they have the Brupaks catalogue and rely on that, handy when it first opened, seem to have been left behind already

Kits don't seem badly priced, ok you could probably get them cheaper from tesco or wilko but they seem to have a lot of higher quality kits. And they are local and very knowledgable. I've got a keg I blagged off freecycle, seals etc were a little old and tired, got replacement parts for not much money.

I'm nothing to do with them by the way, was just personally very impressed all round.

I have been I a few times, just didn't like it I guess, I remember them not being very helpful when I was asking about age of their grain.
But, that being said anyone with a shop local to them is lucky a should support it if they can. Have you been over to the Faversham shop?

I don't get into faversham much but my parents live in ashford just down the road from EHB. Am over that way at least once a week to drip my daughter at my mums whilst i'm at work so its easy to pop up to them.

I live near Ashford but have yet to pay them a visit. I do find that they are quote expensive on quote a few things online. :?

Unfortuanatly I think smaller shops loose out on purchasing power, but that said if I mail order and pay postage I would end up paying more when you add it all up.

I've used them a couple of times for hops and found them very good, £1.99 for Fuggles and Goldings and £2.99 for Cascade. I use them, the Malt Miller and Worcester Hop Shop.

If you haven't been to the shop don't knock them. Canny shoppers will remember that forum members get a 10% discount. Search for the post!

Do they carry everything I want? No. Do they know how old all the bins of grain are? No.
Are they friendly & helpful? Yes. Can I pick up reasonably priced AG ingredients & get a discount? Yes

I agree some things can be found cheaper elsewhere, but as HB shops in the SE are few & far between-talk to them-they will always try to be amenable.

@ Awolphotography-again I can't disagree with you more. You don't like the place & from some of your recent posts you do seem to take a dim view of things in general. EHB are not perfect, but they are good people who are helpful & for one I am glad that I can shop there.

Just think back to The Online Homebrew Company & maybe revise your opinion.

This is meant to be an enjoyable hobby. No offence meant but CHEER UP!

Defiantly agree on how friendly and helpful they are. I blagged a pressure barrel off freecycle recently, used it but was leaking a bit. Took it to EHB, for a few quid came away with a new float, gas valve and seals needed to completely refurb it. They helped me with advice on which bits I needed to achieve what I wanted. And had a nice natter too whilst doing this
