"earthy taste" from s-04

Used s-04 in my 2 ag stove top brews both have a but of an earthy taste which works in my first porter type brew but not so much the hoppy apa...am I imagining it or is it a characteristic of s-04?

is there any other common ingredient between the brews,...??

i use s04 a fair bit and not sure earthy is a taste i have encountered

To be fair the last 2 bottles I had were while I had a throat infection. The ones tonight have been much better so may be my infected throat was the common denominator...

ive quit smoking (ish) about 5 weeks ago....bloody hell now taste is coming back some of the beers i have brewed truly scare me...and not all in a good way...

S04 has a particular taste that not everyone likes. Apparently it's common bewteen the whitbread strains
