Dry hop weight

I'm transferring my beer to secondary tomorrow.

I will be dry hopping.

Should the hop sock be weighed down?

If so, what's a good household thing to weigh it down with? I don't want to contaminate my brew.

A stainless steel spoon works. Easy to sanitise and weighs enough to keep the hops submerged.

Alternative idea - I use a boiled shot glass.

How long do you dry hop for?

5 days max, at the end of fermentation. Any longer and it starts to get a bit grassy and you lose the freshness.
