Dry hop vs hop tea

I've never dry hopped but have done loads of hop teas. From what I've read, dry hop gives you aroma and some flavour and hop teas give you flavour and some aroma. You can of course do both to get both aroma and flavour

I may split my hops that i was going to dry hop with and do both. Any advice on doing a hop tea?

With hop teas steep the hops in water <70C. Steep for about 20mins. Dont go above this or you'll get tannins in your beer (Yup, I know cuz I've steeped for about an hour and this is exactly what happened). I simple steep them in a pot and use a seive to strain them out. I've read using a caffietiere (sp) is really handy for doing the steep but have never tried it as I don't think MrsMQ would appreciate hop debris in her morning coffee)
 
Recently i have been dry hopping and also making a tea with roughly 10% of what i use for dry. I throw it all in fermentor. Didn't realise your supposed to steep them at 70c. Been doing mine at 80c but i think as its only a smallish amount of water it cools down really quickly. I tried boiling them once for 20mins and the beer was not very nice at all.

Your trying to capture various volitile oils in the hops so if you steep too high they disapear. If fact you could probably got down to 65C to steep at to ensure as many of the different hop oils are captured as possible
