Some are common sense but it makes you wonder how anyone ever sends anything with them.

I assume it’s the same for most carriers.

  • Wooden Items (Australia)

Guilty as charged. Not just them. We tried to send a Lynx gift set to someone in Australia for Christmas by Royal Mail Signed for. Blimey, got the package returned with an explosives sticker on it then two days later a letter from customs telling us how naughty we had been with a list similar to that above. I never knew how destructive those spray deodorants could be. I’m surprised we don’t hear about a dozen or so planes going down every day!

Technically
  • Animals Or Organisms Of Any Form (Alive Or Dead)
covers everything due to environmental bacteria on everything, including external packaging. So in a court situation (I'm not a lawyer but I'm fairly sure) this item alone would determine that the list was impossible to conform to and so invalidated as a prohibited description. Mind you 'personal items' covers that too.

They'd be better off writing a list of what you can send.
I get liquids in my brewing supplies (sanitiser) delivered by DPD.

Not sure it was dpd but sold a fermenter (glass) a few years ago. It was well packaged,
Same as when it was sent to me. Got damaged During transit and I guess as most didn’t check the small print. Wasn’t covered by insurance !!

I think the problem would be if a package got lost and was not delivered then you tried to claim on the postal insurance, they would be asking what you are sending and how much was it insured for, afterward they would probably inform you that you shouldnt have sent it anyway and you can't claim for that reason. A nice little insurance claim dodge wouldnt you say?
