This is up for the morning; it's a clone of a hybrid beer from Dogfish Head Brewery in Delaware and the recipe from here http://www.brew365.com/beer_dogfish_head_indian_brown_ale.php

That's if I can fit it into my mash tun :? subbed Hallertau Mittlefrueh for Vanguard and I'm using WLP004 Irish Ale yeast

23L, 74% efficiency
5959g Maris Otter (83.5%)
357g Amber Malt (5%)
250g Dark Brown Sugar (3.5%) caramelised and added with 10mins left of the boil
250g Chocolate Malt (3.5%)
250g Crystal Malt (3.5%)
71g Roasted Barley (1%)
31g Warrior 17% AA 60mins
32g Hallertau Mittlefrueh 5.2% AA 20mins
30g Hallertau Mittlefrueh 5.2% AA 20min steep at 80C
Boil 90mins; mash 90mins at 68C
OG 1072; FG 1018; ABV 7%; IBU 50 (Tinseth); EBC 63
No water treatment as tap water is 125ppm CaCO3 and adjust Cl to 180ppm with CaCl
WLP004 yeast ~ 300bn cells made with 4.5L starter

I've never tried the beer but that recipe looks brilliant. Do you think it would it would be possible to make a passable attempt at a lower OG? Somewhere in the 1.050's, maybe leaving out the sugar and scaling back?

I don't see why not, this has a BU:GU ratio of 0.71, so you could keep it the same, OG 1050 & IBU 36. I've never tried the actual thing but it's a mix of an APA with an American Brown. I'm going to be doing a clone of their 90min IIPA in a couple of brews time.

Phwarrr! This sounds absolutely lush! i really love what the Americans are doing with this stuff. Please report back

mash on, and a bucket of grain
