hiya im new here but have been homebrewin for a while(kit)... i know not real but have recently got into it again anyway i ramble but got a youngs kit few months ago and i know lager should ferment lower temp but noticed the krausen? if thats spelt correct seems very little with not a lot of brown scum infact seemed to die overnight??? but still brewed ok if not a little sweet?

Some yeasts ferment vigorously and get through their sugars pretty quickly, others take a bit more time about it. They should all get to the same place in the end.

More malty brews might have a great big head of foam with loads of brown gunk being carried on top.

Lighter brews will contain less solids particles, so you might well have less foam and less brown gunk.

A Young's lager kit will not include a proper, cool fermenting lager yeast.

Try to keep the brew temperature around 20°C, give it a few days longer than the instructions might suggest, and use a hydrometer.

thank you for repy i did wonder if maybe youngs had included a "lager" yeast if it existed? lower temp and all that? also i added a bit of demera suger with natrural "cane" wich i am now readin aint great but better than that white stuff also added a bit of golden syrup with the second fermentation ..im a bit of a fiddler.....|"ooeeer"! but seems nice even at the unclear stage in a barrell hate bottles!sorry for spellin...
