I'll be kegging a brew soon and waiting for it to condition. As yet I only have 1 keg and 1 FV if I start another brew while drinking the other can I leave the 2nd brew in the FV to ferment then condition while I'm drinking the 1st or will it spoil if left with the trub?

Conditioning technically means carbonating, so uuh...that won't work. If you mean to age, then you can do it in primary providing you have very little headspace, but its not recommended. I would sooner put it on 4 days before kegging, and add isinglass at kegging to clear it quickly.

Personally I would keg or barrel a week after initial fermentation has finished and mature for 4-6 weeks in a bottle or keg. So really I would look at getting another keg beer really does taste better if is mature in the keg or bottle.Leaving in an Fv for extended periods will be risky especially at this time of year.

How long are you thinking? If it's the time to drain a 40 pint barrel I think you may be a little optimistic.

You'd be better off getting some (free) bottles or another keg.

Well I'm getting grief about how much I'm spending on equipment in a short space of time so I think I'll do the 2nd fermentation then bottle into 2L pop bottles which I have loads of then keep my eyes open on Ebay for another barrel.

I've asked friends to save 500ml bottles but only have a couple so far, I know a pub landlord but he's on holiday for a few weeks but I'll see if I can get some bottles from him too.

Sounds like a plan though remember, 2l bottles mean drinking 4 pints at a time. Good luck with that.

Not 100%....if you pour half out, stand upright, reprime a little and squeeze the air out, it will at least be drinkable! But 1L bottles are 4 for £1 at Morrison's, maybe it would be worth checking some of them out :) they are very easy to come by from friends too!
