Does anyone have a simple mead recipe?

Joe's ancient orange mead got me into brewing.

I saw it online somewhere and I thought it sounded interesting to make your own booze, I'd never even seen mead in a shop. No special equipment either, just bought 5l of water and whacked everything in and stuck a balloon over the rim. Tried a second with strawberries added aswell which turned out even better.

This is what I make now:

Odysea pine and fir honey 2kg
Water 4l
Lalvin 71b-1122 nouveau style wine yeast
Orange 1
Lemon 1
Raisins 20

The mother in law loves it and has stolen my stash.

I haven't had any since I woke up with a black eye.

Why do they often seem to have a mere handful of raisins? Seriously 20? I read that it was for nutrient or something, but surely if you add nutrient this makes raisins pointless, unless this tiny amount actually adds flavour?

I was thinking of upping it to 100g as it seems so few.

Why did you have a black eye?
