When bottling my brews up til now I've been boiling my priming sugar in water and adding the syrup to the bottles to ensure its sterile, I'm wondering if this is this entirely necessary.

I don't really boil it as such for sterilising, just enough boiled water to make a syrup, that way I know it's disovled into the wort better when batch priming.

If you are adding directly to the bottle then there is no problem just adding straight from the packet.

I like to make up a syrup if I am batch priming as I can ensure I get an even mix when I drop into the bottling bucket.

I tend to use a syrup then use a syringe to ensure consistency.

Doesn't really work as I always forget which bottle I've primed so I guarantee there is always at least 2 bottles per batch with a foam explosion.

I dissolve the sugar in a liter of boiled water then put that into the bottling bucket before the beer to ensure an even mix before bottling with a little bottler. :thumb:
