OK, Im just about to do a youngs cider and a muntons continental lager. The question is do I add any extras into them for better flavour or just leave.

I have recently added honey to a London Porter and a St peters IPA.

I Recently did a Magnum Elderflower cider Kit and added Lime. from Concentrate lime Juice, which I defiantly think helped.

However I would recommend boiling it first because i think the preservatives in it defiantly slowed down some of the yeast/fermentation process. :wha:

I like to add tinned treacle to my ales which gives a great aroma and bumps up the Starting gravity.

Muntons, along with other brands, sell Beer Enhancer, which if I remember correctly is 50-50 DME and maltodextrin. The DME will act the same way as sugar, but unlike sugar will contribute to taste, and the maltodextrin will add body and mouthfeel to your beer.

its worth bearing in mind that the maltodextrin, as far as I'm aware, is not really fermentable (which increases the FG, which is what increases the body), so you need to work this into your recipe. for example, if it calls for 1KG of sugar, I would consider using 1KG of the beer enhancer plus 500g sugar.

The Muntons Beerkit Enhancer doesn't contain maltodextrin (it's dextrose and spraymalt) but the Coopers Brew Enhancers do.

Well by the very fact that it contains spraymalt, it contains maltodextrin. It may not have had any EXTRA maltodextrin added, but it is there in the spraymalt. It's one of the reasons why malt extracts give better body to kit beers than pure sugars.

Really? The Coopers ones are 50% maltodextrin?

That would be so cloyingly sickly sweet as to be up drinkable no?
