hi all, hope you all had a good festive time,
am going to get some more beer started,
1st off another 36 pints of nelsons revenge.
and 40 pints of woodfords wherry,
with the wherry I would like to give it a bit of a tweek.
I have a kilo of medium dme, shold I use it and how.
or is there a method of giving it a bit more flavour,
with out spoiling it,
thanks sam.

You can use DME in place of sugar however I recall the ratios are not 1:1. Have a search, it has been talked about loads of times.

Having said that, the premium 2 can kits don't require any extra fermentable's. You can brew a few litres short and / or dry hop but I never did to these two when I was brewing kits.

DME is not exactly the same as suger. it's like you use more malt in a full gran recipe..So you add more malt suger, but it will not ferment for 100%. you can add it while boiling or heating up the liquid

It's about 1.25x - so for 1kg, use 1.25kg DME. it'll increase the sweetness and body of the beer though so if you like it hoppy and dry, try to limit the use a bit. or add more hops.
