Hey guys, converting a barn in a commercial brewhouse and got into a slight pickle ... how can you dispose of water which has bleach or other “brewing” cleaning agents in it ... I read that hydroxide peroxide can convert stuff back to just water and some harmless chemicals.
Problem is that I live in a rural are and only have a septic tank with a soak away.

Proxitane just goes back to water and maybe a little weak acetic acid that is what most breweries use, and sodium Percarbonate for the alkaline clean I believe is environmentally safe.

I had to get a written permission from SEPA for controlled disposal to storage, treatment and gradual discharge to my septic. You need to work through this m8; Regulatory Method (WAT-RM-04) Indirect Sewage Discharges to Groundwater. It took a long time and lots of research. But did it as they can shut you down and fine you. So, I I designed a sump pump system from my central brewhouse drain to two 200l storage tanks with baffles and sediment control. I PH test and measure TDS. I will need to do BODS next,,, In practice even on the low brewing level I do at the moment I actually mainly pour the treated liquid on our raised beds - plants are doing brilliant. The sludge goes in the two 450l composters and wormies scoff it all before going back on the garden. We use the waste grain for baking after drying. We waste nowt up here. It can be done just takes time calculating volumes. FYI I use caustic, PAA, starsan and now Cask clean and Enzybrew.
