Just a quick question about dispensing. We put our kolsch in one of our cornys last saturday followed the procedure to the letter sanitised with videne syphoned beer from fv in to keg using the out post. When all the beer was in gassed and shook keg, released gas gassed again to 20psi and left it. Just pulled half a pint to see what its like and it tastes good and has a good creamy head but no bubbles from the bottom of the glass. Have we done anything wrong???

Is the beer chilled or just at room temp? CO2 will get absorbed much faster at colder (refrigerator) temps.

My process is:

1. Fill sanitized keg with beer.
2. Attach gas at 30psi and purge 3 times.
3. Put keg and tank into refrigerator for 36 hours.
4. Remove both from the fridge.
5. Detach CO2 tank and purge the keg of excess pressure.
6. Place keg into kegerator on CO2 at 7psi.
7. Pour a pint!

What did you brew...beer or lager?
Also, how long have you had it hooked up to the gas for and did you do the shake technique to quick carb it??

Its best if you can leave it connected then as the gas is absorbed it tops up. When i make a cider i leave it connected at 40 psi for 10-14 days before drinking....

no nor me mine are in the garage which is plenty cold enough at this time of year. Its more about giving it long enough and maintaining the pressure on the cornie. :thumb:

think i know whats been wrong i didnt leave the gas connected and i wasnt using that little screw on the regulator to adjust pressure etc ive left it at 20psi with the gas tank valve left open so if pressure drops it should bring it back to 20psi :D

I leave the gas line attached but turn off the valve, the dial still should give you the psi level, I just top up when passing if needed.
Had one tank nearly empty over night with a slight leak, so always turn off now

Gas first then shake it leaked a bit maybe i didnt put enough gas in then released gas then gassed to 20psi
Hi Mark,
You should always add gas then release the pressure without shaking, I do this a couple of times.
If you shake without properly purging you may get off tastes in your ale due to oxidisation. ;)

Thanks John so to clarify add gas release gas, add gas again release gas, then shake
No add gas release gas, add gas again release gas, add gas again . . . Shake
