so i was wondering if they would be ok to use.

Oi! Now they look like big bottles from office water coolers?

I've got a 'Wanted' on Freecycle for big bottles like that but no offers yet

I'm not sure if I'd want to use plastic for anything long-term, but for 'quickies' like herbal 'teas' or supermarket juices they look good to me, go for it :thumb:

Ive converted some 5L water bottles to DJ using a grommit in the lid for a airlock, have two better bottle DJs and 2 of these but now most of the wines are housed in Glass Demi Johns from Freecycle.

I've got lots of demi's but when I'm running short I do as dandan suggest....nice cheap alternative
Personally, I don't use an airlock with them, but that's personal choice :thumb:
If you do go the water container route, try and avoid any 'ribbed' containers as they hold yeast in the recesses and releases it on racking

These are fine to use as their food grade, wilkos sell the glass for 5.50
