Demerara sugar

I'm about to start a brewferm barley wine.
Can I use demerara sugar?
What's this likely to do to the finished product?

As it costs twice as much as white sugar, you would only want to deploy it if the molasses and micronutrients had a role to play in your brew.

(Unless of course there's been a bag sitting in your larder for years and you want an excuse to use it up!)

It will make it taste a bit more dark treacley.

Picked some up dirt cheap. Been wondering what to do with it.

I use it all the time, as I suspect its closer to what they used to make the various brewers inverts out of in the old days (not any more alas).
