I've been trying to come up with some crazy beer ideas recently, like glitter beer.

What's the craziest beer idea you've had?

Craziest one I made was a rum and raisin stout. very nice it is too! no regrets on that one, although I wish i'd mashed higher for a sweet stout.

Craziest idea? Was pretty damn close to a pine bittered beer once, before I stopped being a pillock.

That and brewing budweiser out of dave line's book. that was a stupid idea.

hahah, gross! i know it exists already, but god knows how much pine to use. would be interesting to try.

did you ever check out international arms race calum? i had the brewdog version, flying dog was too expensive, £4.20 or something ridiculous! that was weird. bittered with berries and herbs and stuff. peculiar, but one was enough. pretty sure it had an intoxicating effect beyond the abv too...

I do elderberry stout but thats quite tame really and yet again it is one done by Williams Bros Brewery.

I do fancy and uber strong scotch ale of about 15%+ which you can sip like a malt, aged in malt soaked oak chips ( i doubt I could brew enough to fill a whisky cask)

Again not very wacky.................

But then as my kids keep on pointing out I'm old and i was around in the 'olden days'

I have had this one but have got a bottle of the Nollaig for next year. I have both the Flying dog and Brew Dog International Arms Race beers to try next week i think plus a bottle of Sink the Bismark that I think will be drink on my wedding day

But off topic sorry but I did brew 2 cans of coopers irish stout with 1kg brewing sugar and 1kg DME plus 700g cocoa powder. Now over 7 months old but and still very bitter but it is mellowing out. I think it will be ready for christmas next year

Hmmmph, I'd have a very nice time with your beer shelf...

Now that reminds me... Ivana will have been in the bottle four months come hogmany. I guess it wouldn't be unreasonable to have a "see how she's getting on" sample...

I'm feeling a "black lager" with chocolate malt and lime peel in the boil and maybe as a post fermentation aging addition...

Served, if it needs a further kick, with a wedge...

Now that sounds good... the wedge tops it all off nicley.

How about a blackcurrant licoriche (cant spell i know) type?

You can probably see ive got a vintage sweet theme starting here

A pal and I where talking one night (after a long session on the ale) and he was asking me what flavourings I could add to a brew. I said "pretty-much anything" (I was very, very drunk at the time) and so we started throwing ideas around. In the end he decided (after seeing the effects of Sprouts Mexicana in the TV Series "Bottom" - apt) that he'd like me to brew Sprout Stout. Not sure if I'd like to give that one a go, though!

I did make, many years' ago, a bottled brew flavoured with Basil, ...which was nice.

I would tap up graysalchemy for his Elizium Elderberry Stout recipe and go from there... :thumb:

had a black lager in cyprus and was pretty surprised at how good it was! lovely weird sweet/dry/roasty/refreshing flavour. could recommend it as a basic recipe any day...

brewing budweiser out of dave line's book
This made me chuckle...

I have wondered if you could "dry hop" an IIPA with loads of cannabis. The THC should dissolve into the alcohol. If I lived in Holland I'd give it a go.

I was fortunate enough to judge some of the specialty beers at the Bristol Competition and there were some pretty wild and impressive ideas there. One of the most memorable was an IPA made with mint. Normally I hate mint and when I read the description I cringed and expected to hate it. It was a lovely beer...
