The issue in most of continental Europe is lack of vaccinations. On average about 10% (not sure if this is adult population or all) compared with ours at 50% of the uk's adults.

I am shortly going to have my vaccine and as 17 million people in the UK and EU have had this vaccine and the cases of people with serious side effect are less than what would be the norm i wont let the latest news put me off, are there any members having second thoughts?

If anything it proves how safe it is - the reporting system is good enough to pick up something as rare as CVTs, and yet isn't seeing anything happen at higher frequencies. It's weird that they haven't seen anything similar in the UK, which may point to an age-related factor - Germany has been using AZ only on under 65's, mostly healthcare workers. Could be some kind of interaction in people who are unlucky enough to be jabbed whilst being infected, but we don't really know.

I had my 2nd Pfizer *** this week and it has knocked me for 6. Swollen knees and elbows that are extremely painful and the general feeling of malaise.
Few people at work have been ill also. However the "slight side affects" really do not outweigh the benefits of the full course.

Any vaccination program always has some reactions/side affects in the group. Just the Corvid vaccine roll out is massive and under media scrutiny.

Friday was a record day for Covid vaccinations in the UK, with a combined 711,156 first and second doses given to members of the public.
It means that half of all UK adults - some 26,853,407 people - have now received a first dose of a vaccine.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the latest milestone in the rollout marked a "phenomenal achievement".
Prime Minister Boris Johnson - one of those to receive a first dose on Friday - also hailed the landmark.
A total of 2,132,551 people have also received their second dose of a vaccine, government figures show.
Another 96 deaths within 28 days of a positive Covid test have also been recorded in the UK, as have a further 5,587 cases.
"Vaccinating over half of all adults is a phenomenal achievement and is testament to the mammoth efforts of the NHS, GPs, volunteers, local authorities and civil servants in every corner of the UK," said Mr Hancock.
The news comes after the government confirmed a shipment of about five million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca *** would be delayed, resulting in an expected reduction in the number of first doses - including for the under-50s - given during April.
Meanwhile, European countries, including France, Germany and Italy, have begun offering the Oxford *** again after a pause over safety fears.
Mr Hancock said he was "absolutely delighted" to reveal the UK had reached the vaccination milestone.

Unfortunately cases in my area have started to increase steadily
Don't forget, that we are now testing all secondary school children, so the amount of tests we are doing has gone through the roof. It's therefore quite normal that we are catching more asymptomatic cases than before; it doesn't necessarily mean the R number is going up.

Secondly, even if the R number is going up, then as long as hospitalisations and deaths aren't going up as well, then that means the vaccine is doing it's job and Covid starts to become a manageable annoyance rather than a threat to the fabric of society.

Yeah I expect with schools going back and the lateral flow tests being done twice a week we will certainly see a rise in cases.

Whilst I hate to compare in do hope that our lack of huge surge and consequently deaths and hospital admissions is related to the vaccine program which currently is protecting those most likely to die or have serious illness.

Three younger population who will be working and going to school ect will still inevitably transmit it a good while longer.

But it's promising the vaccine is having a great effect.

I believe it will be a bad cold one day, also we and a few others are leading the world in how it should be done, i am very patriotic you know i love this green and pleasant land of ours acheers.

I know someone who lives in Italy. They've been told by the authorities that they probably won't have vaccinated everyone in their 50s and 60s before 2023. I honestly thought I'd misheard so queried it - 2023. Unbelievable.

Where does it say that. I wasn't told any of that and it doesn't say that in my note. I had 4 pints of dipa after mine. I was terribly ill. Take 48 hours just in case.
I'm not worried about side effects of the *** I'm worried about beer withdrawal symptoms ;). I think I posted a link about alcohol reducing the efficacy of the ***. The study was done in Russia. I think it's a wise precaution to stay off the pop for a bit. So I'm doing a few days before and a few days after.
