My last 2 brews, I have fined with gelatine. They have come out crystal clear but there seems to be a 'treacle' like flavour/smell to the beer. It's not enough to make it taste odd, but it is definitely there. The brew before I did not fine and there is no such flavour.

Brew 1 was a pilsner but made with GV12. It was left in the fridge for 6 weeks before fining and bottling. It's otherwise a fantastic brew, good head retention etc.

Brew 2 was bottled last week, but this was a Festival Summer Glory kit. I noticed the taste/smell in the sample jar before bottling.

Question the 2nd, I have now gone back to making kits for various reasons, but I have a few open packs of hops in the freezer that would be a shame to throw out. Are there any kits out there that would benefit from hop additions? Preferably as a dryhop as I don't like my beer too bitter, but do like lots of flavour and aroma.

Without checking, I'm sure I have some Apollo, Hallertau, Cluster and Cascade. Anything I can do with them or should I just get rid? What kits are best to use for additions?

Based on some previous promising experience dry hopping lighter Coopers kits with Cascade, my next one to try will be dry hopping a Coopers Real Ale with about 40g Cascade. Real Ale is one of the last kits currently in the Tesco sale that is in stock at £10, so might be worth considering. I will also probably use a small amount of grain (pale and/or crystal) to boost the malt as well as BE or liquid malt.
PS Clibit has done a good summary of hops you might want to look at for some other ideas
