I've just taken delivery of one of these

The base holes, although not huge, are significantly larger than the sidewalls.

Just wondering if I'd made the wrong choice

I've got one of those - it will let a lot of stuff through I'm afraid. You need a dedicated fine mesh nylon straining bag.
