Hi,

Ive bottled my first brew, all going well so far, Is there a temperature recommended to store beer once its been bottled? I bottled it last night and its currently sitting in a room about 20c, Does it need to be colder? I heard its supposed to be 18c for the first week and then down to 10 or 11 c thereafter?

Thanks Raphael

2 or 3 weeks in that room then if possible move it to somewhere cooler to help any yeast settle on the bottom of the bottle. After that you store where you can cooler the better without freezing. A stone/concrete floor is one of the better places to stand bottles on. In my younger days the outside privy was choco block with beer.... :D

And what about long term after the warm/cold conditioning? Ive transfer all my bottles to a small cellar but there is a boiler that causes a temperature range from 16 - 22.. Is this ok for long term storage?

Thanks

Long term is not a concept I have ever managed to realise :drink: :drink: :drink:

But, I leave mine in the garage [brewery  ] for as long as my patience lasts... So far not very long :drink: :D

Im trying to leave some stouts/porters for Christmas.. So far just 25% has been consumed!

I just worry about fluctuating temperatures... I could move them outside in the garden shed but i worry about theft! I don't have a garage.

Don't worry too much. Anywhere below room temp and above beer freezing point will be fine.
