Corny Keg Dilemma help

I have a keg of my Macaroon Impy, been carbing for a few weeks so fully carbed.
Its not quite got the coconut punch I want so want to add a little more via a hop spider.

What you think the best method to do this will be.
1. Fully purge the carbed keg, crack the lid open and drop the spider in full of coconut (never cracked the lid on a carbed keg before)

2. Risk transferring from carbed keg to another corny keg fully purged with the hop spider in it from beer out to beer out.

Well I don't use spending valves so will be a crapshoot guess as Id prolly want the carbed keg to be around 5 psi and the receiving keg to be at 2 to allow flow. Then the risk of the dreaded foaming

I may be overthinking them both just never done either.
 
Foaming should be minimal if you get the beer cold enough, especially if there is pressure in the receiving keg. If you set the transfer pressure to say 5 Psi, the beer will flow until the receiving keg reaches the same pressure. When it does, slowly vent with the quick release to get flow going again.

Personally, I just chill to 5°c and transfer with a spare gas connector on the in post.

The thing to be wary of is when the first keg empties and sends co2 straight through.
 
If you open a carbonated keg and add something to it, even gently you risk it doing the dreaded woosh. You might get away with it, if it is cold and you are very gentle, but still ... fair chance of woosh.
 
If you vent it before opening where is the woosh coming from?

Where is the woosh coming from? Nucleation. The beer is carbonated. The 'pro' way to do this would be to work out the equilibrium point for volumes/pressure at a given temperature and allow the receiving keg to spund at that pressure during the transfer.
