Corny cleaning

Managed to pick up a couple of corny's cheaply though they are in need of a very good clean before using. Ive recently bought some Star San, though having read a few threads, a lot of people here use 'oxy cleaner' to give them an initial clean.

What id really like to know is:

What type of oxy cleaner to use (Sainsburys and Tesco are local to me)

How to dilute the Star San (there are 1/4 oz and 1/2 oz marks on the bottle, what literage do i use to dilute them?) Im in a hard water area so will use bottled water.

The cornys are very dull on the outside, what can i use the buff them up similar to the other corny's ive got?

Ive got a couple of sets of seals to change on both corny's as well.

There is a how to clean and sanitise your cornie on the forum which I think will answer all your questions written by tubby-shaw. Any oxy clean will do, I use what ever is on special offer.

RO water is cheaper and completely salts free, about 50p for 5 litres from pet/aquarium shops.
1.6ml per litre is the dilution from memory

I make up 25 litres at a time, lasts ages.

Ashbeck spring water from Tesco, 7.5ml of Starsan in 5l for swilling around and 1.5 ml in a litre spray bottle does the trick for anything else.
I use a plastic syringe to measure and once I've swilled I funnel it back into the gallon bottle. Lasts ages. ( that's what it tells you to do on here somewhere) I use VWP to clean just out of habbit more than anything.

if you buy RO water from an aquarium/pet shop, take a container to save dosh and be green. Ex-spring water gallon bottles are ideal or I use a plastic 25L "gerry can". I've made a wall mounted frame to carry the gerry can so its easy to get it out of the tap for rinsing and topping up the spray bottles etc using gravity.

If you buy generic oxy cleaner, make sure it is the unperfumed variety! I use Lidl Oxy for about a quid a tub.

For polishing stainless, Solvol Autosol will work, I recently polished out scratches in stainless with it, if you need something a bit stronger then honing paste from Tormek does a lovely job but I would try Solvol Autosol first.
