Thinking of getting a cornelius keg but what the difference between ball and pin connections and which one is best?

There is a slight difference in the fittings that are used to connect to the 'liquid out' and 'gas in' posts. One locks by means of twisting and seating a pin, the other by way of spring loaded ball bearings.....pin lock, ball lock.

The ball locks seem to be more popular over here in the UK......but fittings for both types are easily available.

I've only ever used ball locks, so I couldn't really say which one is best.

It seems ball locks are much easier to get hold of here, and as cornies multiply and you don't want to be swapping fittings all the time I would personally only look at ball lock. :thumb:

It's funny, here in the US, ball locks were very popular. So much so that they are now harder to find and are more expensive. Pin locks are cheaper now here.

some guy by me is selling pin lock kegs for £30 second hand, do you its worth it?

Does it include disconnects ?

Not sure what Norm is charging these days, I think around £45 for a good quality 2nd hand ball lock keg with a set of disconnects.
He often does 2 slightly more used ones with 1 set of disconnects for £60 ish

That is a decent price.....you may have to replace the seals, but thay are cheap enough.

A set of pin-lock disconnects will cost you £20 from norm.....depending on how many kegs you get and want to use at a particular time, you could get away with one set of these.....I'd want at least a couple of sets kicking around though.

I do agree with Hawks though.......stick to one type.

i've emailed norm 2 days ago and havent received a reply.

Dont suppose any has a number for him?
