Corker for 750ml Leffe Bottles...

Hi Guys.

I have collected (over some time) about 30 750ml Leffe bottles.They have cleaned up nicely, even the foil came off without a fight.

Now... I need a corker.

I have seen the Colonna Capper but cannot find any where in the UK that sells them and cannot afford to pay to ship one.

Does anyone know where I can get one of these or something that will do the job of corking a belgian bottle??

Since getting well into Belgian beers I have been contemplating a champagne corker! if you find out details I would be very interested!

The only ones I have seen are the larger floor corkers... bit excessive.
Only done one belgian before and had to ditch half...

Try the plastic stoppers and you will also need wire cages or just use 29mm crown caps.

Rob at the malt miller sells the bigger caps I think you need to use a bench end capper with a bigger die on it.

i think there is a thread on here that was discussing the 29mm die if i remember rightly, the bench cappers came from Italy and i think the guy contacted them and they do the die seperately,cant find the thread sorry but have a search and you should find it :thumb:

I don't know what they are like but there is a reasonably priced emily capper on candirect.co.uk for €17 with both 26mmm and 29mm fittings

the one you need is called EMILY its made in italy and is bright red, i cant be botherd to sort mine out but i brought it of amazon but i am sure fleabay as well as home brew shops carry it,

th emain point is that ordinary beer caps are 27mm where as champange and certain beer bootles are 29mm, look carefully before buying as mine , and as with all of them SHOULD COME WITH 27MM AND 29MM caps, its the gold bell bit inside they just unscrew and you change diameter, if you buy one seperatly just make sure that for the emily that you have a 15mm male thread on it, other wise it wont fit

but apart from that and £15 you will be able to bottle and cap any thing

if you want to cork shampoo bottles i would suggest using a plastic stopper as its easier than trying to use cork, inserting cork into a shampoo bottle or style of bottle is blooming hard as they are mushroomed not straight

I originally looked into capping them but kept finding threads about corking Belgians (all American). The Emily capper I have looked at and was going to buy until I saw photos of corked Belgians (with mushrooms and all) and they look awesome.

The floor standing corker is a bit excessive, I don't really have the room...

The collona capper / corker will do Belgians as it compresses the cork before jamming it in but I cannot find them in the UK.

I just phoned them and this isn't suitable for Champagne corks.
