been fermenting a coopers irish stout for the last 10 days using 500grams of spraymalt and 300grams of dextrose.

Checked the gravity the last 2 evenings and the hydrometer reading was 1016 both nights.

Is this low enough? I expected a final reading of about 1008, but this is my first coopers kit and in the instructions they dont give any idea of what the final gravity should be just that if it is the same 2 days running its ok to bottle.

Meant to say the original gravity before pitching the yeast was 1040.

hi if its any help just put an irish stout in the fv last night its a muntons brand and they said the FG should be 1008 or lower before priming and bottling hope this helps SG was 1050 roughly hard to tell as the froth was obscuring the hydrometer :hmm:

thats only giving you 3.2%, i would give it a gentle stir with a sanitised spoon. what temp has it been at? if you stir it and and try warm it up a bit to get the yeast going again.

hi update for you on the stout the gravity has dropped to 1009 going to leave it another day or to and see if it drops a point or 2 more how did your fg turn out iian
