Gents,

quick question on cleaning the Coopers FV tap. Done a few brews now with no issue and have put the tap in boiling water and sterilsing solution to clean after last brew. However, even after this I have noticed that there is still bits of old beer and brown staining behind the red plastic seal (u cant see it in the picture but its inbetween where the white tap body meets the red seal). When I put clean water over it the and open and close the tap bits of brown water drop out meaning its still not clean enough. Can this red plastic cover/seal be taken off for cleaning? I have tried to pull it off without using to much force and am worried that I will break it and wont get it back on.

Any thoughts?

Probably not much help, but
I have youngs barrels with the white taps, Ive noticed the same problem I'm not brave enough to disassemble it although I've fead it's possible. I just soak mine in vwp overnight with the tap open, it usually works.

decided to take it apart and bingo. The tap slides out of the of the plunger when the tap is opened at 90degrees.

Even though the tap had been sitting in sterile solution all night there was a huge amount of filth behind it and when opening and closing the tap a bit of the gunge would come out therefore potential of entering the bottle with the beer. Although Ive not lst a brew from infection i think it was a matter of time with the build up behind the tap. Easy to clean and put back together and defo worth 5minutes of your time.
