now then all.... im going to put on a coopers mexican cerveza later, and im going to add a kilo of muntons beer enhancer.... i guess this will turn it into more of an ale, rather than a straight lager, can anyone forsee any problems it may cause..... also, adding this, would i need to brew short to 20/21 litres or just do the full amount 25?... cheers..

No it wont turn it into an ale, it will just give it slightly more body than just using sugar. ive brewed it before with brew enhancer and just brewed it to 23l. Thought it was quite nice very refreshing, if your worried it might taste a little thin you could brew short to maybe 21l but its not a beer thats meant to have alot of body so i dont think id bother

ive just stuck this one on today, added the kg of muntons beer enhancer and also a tin ( 454g) of golden syrup, ive shortened it to 23l, so hopefully this will be a good un.
just checked and its 1044 @ 22'c ...

lol yes it should normally be 23l but if youve been doing 25l then you will most likely notice the difference of shortening to 23l

just racked this brew into another fv, checked and its 4.8%, tastes really, really nice already too..... proper lager taste, and not too bitter aftertaste, guess adding the golden syrup helped.... cant wait to bottle and get some down my neck properly....

just as a thought, 1 teaspoon of sugar into each bottle, thats correct isnt it? .... and level or heaped?.... ta muchly, would like a proper carbonated brew this time....lol...

another thought, is there any advantage in passing through a wine filter?.. or would this remove the yeast, meaning it wouldnt carbonate???

use a cooks measuring spoon. 1 level tsp for a lager. I enjoyed my cerveza after 3 weeks in the bottle, tasted chemically before that but it disappeared well.
Try a good thick slice of Lime in the glass when drinking.

its a nice kit this one though you have to serve it chilled. Definately don't make more than 23L though!
I found it similar to Sol. Doing this one again soon but with less quantity to bump up the percentage to about 5.9 and throwing in 2 bottles of tequila essense into the secondary FV to try and make a desperados clone!

been a while since i posted on here , just an update, i made 38 bottles of this lager, and had drunk about two thirds of them around new year until about march... very nice it is/was, but definately needs a slice/squeeze of lemon.... i had 15 bottles left, 2 which were just sat in my fridge, rest in the garage.... i cracked open one from the fridge yesterday and blimey, what a difference.... absolutely delicious, both with and without the lime ( had 2 bottles).... im going to get another brew of this on the go asap, maybe 2...lol...

mak, how did he tequila essence experiment go then??

Just done this one as my first brew looking forward to it after reading the reviews on here about it. Just wondering if it would be best to use sugar or the coopers carbonation drops for when its ready for bottling

i used sugar... too tight to buy carb drops....lol...

and i just bought another of these this morning, so thatll be going on shortly....
