Hi to All

Just a quick question, I want to keep a supply of beer on the go.
I have coopers in my corny but want to brew more so when the corny empties i can fill it back up.Can i leave my beer in my FV untill i'm ready o transfer to my corny ( could be a month ) or should i buy another fv and transfer into that to leave it untill i'm ready to rack it??

Thanks

If I think what you are saying is ferment and then store the beer in a fermenter for up to a month I would say No . Either get a second cornie. that way you can have one drinking and one ready for filling, or Get down your boozer and blag Magners and bulmers pint bottles for recycling. Bottle or Keg when your beer is through the ferment if you dont and try to store it Im sure you could guarantee an infection.

Others will undoubtedly give an opinion on whetehr you could ensure its stays fresh when sealed in a bin having been racked off the yeast, Me I see that as extra handling and extra handling increases the risk of infection.
All that said If Im kegging bright in a cornie I let it settle under an airlock for a week or so after the ferment has ended so I can keg it bright.
So if you got your timing right you could try to judge when you would expect to empty your cornie. Start your ferment and it will take 3 to 6 days ish to finish, then you have a 5 to 7 day window to empty your cornie.. Then rack off into it and carbonate with co2

Easy solution buy another cornie

You have to remember that cornii are herd animals, if you keep one on its own you may find that it empties itself much faster that it woudl if there were two or more. . . This is its cunning tactic to attract more herd members

Thanks for your responses.
I will just have to get the timing right for a transfer of beverage.

I do have my own little herd of three cornies sitting nicely under my bar attached to my lovely brass four tapped bar pump.......................its just i'm gready and want it so i always have stout in one, lager in another and bitter in my third
Just gonna have to ask the big bearded bloke in the red suit for more cornies  :thumb:

three beers sounds like six cornies to me, then there is the seventh transfer cornie when you want to take beer away so you transfer it to another cornie to keep it bright. Oh then there is the Christmas beer that needs to condition for a while so that makes 7

You could get some baby cornies to transfer half brew to and put TC in as well.

My herd is 8 adults and 2 wee uns. I have to date only had 8 and one wee un filled at the same time.

I keep finding strays . . . and its amazing where they manage to hide

Currently at 21 Adults and 3 foals

Unfortunately I had to put one Down :(

And the really crazy thing is that I am about to run out of beer
