I've been doing a bit of research into brewing a coffee porter. I'm very much a noob, only on my second kit brew (a stout with added chocolate malt). I'm a coffee roaster by trade and I've read that using coffee in brewing is best done with cold brewed coffee (i.e. steeping the grounds in cold water for 12 hours or so). Any ideas?

Don't know on that, I brewed my coffee stout with ground coffee in a Cafetiere enough for 8 cups in a 2 cup model then once cooled added to the wort before fermentation.
I did it that way as I knew the water had boiled and the coffee sterile after having boiled water on it.
