Okay - I have had my first brewing disaster and have a barrel of REALLY awful tasting beer. Almost like poo. I assume I have an infection, but am SOOOOOO anal about my cleaning that I am not sure where it came from. UNTIL I realised I have never cleaned the inside of the tap.

Question is - how do you take it apart and reassemble it? I use cheap standard Youngs plastic kegs if that helps. In the past I have just run the steriliser through the tap to empty the barrel prior to rinsing.

If it is the cheap on/off type tap, then you can't disassemble it, just unscrew it and clean the threads & inside with tap open & closed.
If it is a w&d type then take the cap off the tap (blunt knife works) and separate the bits and clean with oxy/your normal cleaner. Just make sure when you reassemble it that the cap closes fully (try blowing though it)
