Hi all,

after a spot of advice.

so the kegerator is all done. Last job really is to clean and sanitise the beer lines - which of course is an ongoing job.

With this in mind, i'm considering getting a small keg purely for cleaner duties. That way I can just chuck the cleaner in the keg, pressure it up, connect it to the tap to be cleaned and just run it through.

i've seen these, but it doesn't really do what i'm after. I really want line cleaning to be a 2 minute job. Only issue here is i'd rather not spend close to £100 to do it!

any clever suggestions welcome.

I bit the bullet, bought a refurbed 5ltr keg.

and the bottle top thing in my first post.

I intend to fill a PET bottle with cleaner, flush that through, give it a rinse, then keep a keg of starsan and push that through under pressure.

For me it's just part and parcel of the turn over of beer in my kegerator.

When I have a keg that's run out I remove it, rinse all the remaining sediment out, then part fill with war water and some Oxi. Give it a good shake, hook the keg up to the gas and beer line, pressurise it a little and pump some of the Oxi solution through the beer line / tap displacing any left over beer. Then disconnect and leave everything for an hour giving the keg a few shakes from time to time.

Then chuck the Oxi out of the keg, give it a good few rinses with cold water, and then lob about half a litre of StarSan solution in there. Give it another shake and again pump this through the beer line displacing the Oxi. As I'm tight I let a bit come out with the Oxi, ditch this and then pump the rest of the StarSan out to use again. I do this until the keg is empty of StarSan and gas is blowing out the tap.

As I've usually got another keg ready at this stage I'll now hook it up to the sanitised line.

The clean keg will just be left to dry and then sanitised again before filling.
