A lot of the bottled beers I like, seem to mention Citra hops and I am wondering if this is the missing link for my bitter beers.
Does anyone use Citra and if so, are they in for the full boil, what kind of amount and what do they go best with.
I am getting quite a clean tasting bitter now, but somehow lacking in the flavour departmment.
I am not all grain yet either.

I've used Citra in a pale ale rather than a standard bitter, I'd say this is more usual.

It was a single hop brew so had additions at 60,10, Steep and Dry Hop with a total of 130g

This gives a full on grapefruit punch, it's what I wanted but definitely not everyone's cup of tea, that said you must like the taste judging from the bottled beers.

If you're wanting to give bitters a bit more hop punch I'd be more inclined to go for some of the other US hops like Cascade or Mt Hood in the first instance. There's a basic extract recipe for Oakhams JHB, which I'd say is one of the hoppy bitters you're after, here that uses Challenger & Mt Hood

Another beer that was really nice imo (father in law hated it tho :p Grrr, could've kept his bottle for myself) was the Oakham Ales Inferno. Uses 4 different hops from what I remember, but has a lovely crisp citrus taste... Would love to find an extract recipe for this (altho never found one when searched before)...

I've done 2 beers now with challenger as a bittering hop and a lot of Citra at the end, good combination.

tried a pale ale on sunday with only citra in it was very nice would drink it again sort of flora not to strong kind of flavour well at least thats what it tasted like to me maybe with a sort of well citrus taste
