cider yeast, 5 grams =5 gallons, 1 gram = 1 gallon?

got some cider yeast here, youngs stuff, 5 gram satchet, on the directions, is states the packet is good for 5 gallons, i presume if i want to make one demijohn (1 gallon) i just use 1 gram of yeast?

But seriously 5g is not really enough for a 23l batch. One gram theoretically would be sufficient to star fermentation in a 4.5l batch, but using the whole sachet will result in a faster start, quicker ferment and cleaner taste :thumb:

thanks guys, i did add 1 teaspoon of it, which would roughly be half the packet , is it worth adding the rest now (about 2 hours old) or just leav as is?
