we made a batch of cider last november using apples from the garden, it finished fermenting after about a month then we racked it into a clean fv and left it with the intention of bottling but never got round to it, went to had a look at it today and something is not right, there is a white mouldy looking film covering the surface of the cider, it looks a bit spiderwebish and it doesn't smell good. Can someone tell me what has gone wrong and is it just a case of it being left to long in the new fv. Mainly for future reference when the cider season starts again in winter

Sounds like an infection - i'd say because it was left too long :(

thought as much, was nearly sick when i stuck my head in to give it a sniff  , looks like we have lost 10g but luckily we've still got another 15g already bottled.

Did it look anything like this
