Hello everyone,

I bottled the Muntons premium gold cider 2 weeks ago, I held the bottle up to the light yesterday and it seems really cloudy, when I bottled it was clear, does anyone know if this is meant to be cloudy or clear and if it is meant to be clear should it have cleared by now or not.

Thanks, Paddy

When I bottled I kept them in the kitchen for 2 days as the instructions said keep somewhere warm for a couple of days. Since then I have kept them in the garage so the temp is probably somewhere during the day around 4 to 8c and probably around 0c to 4c during night.

Paddy.

sounds like a chill haze, bring a bottle in from the cold and let it come up to room temp, if it's chill haze it will clear as it warms :thumb:

Thanks guys for your replys, if it does not clear what should I do? Will it still be drinkable.
And what taste am I expecting from this kit. Will it taste better than a bought one from the supermarket or is that asking to much!

Not made the kit myself so cant say.

If it's chill haze the problem is only aesthetic (sp) the taste will not be impared at all, so enjoy, use a stone tankard if it bothers you.

You could try crash cooling for 10 - 14 days, get them in a fridge at <4c this can sometimes cure a chill haze.

Cheers wez I will try both ways and see if it clears by bringing up to room temp and try the fridge option. Thanks again.

close your eyes, and drink the bugger down....... I find that the human body provides and excellent filtration system for dealing with Haze in Beer and Cider...... And I regularly prove the theory. lol

Just an update on the cider, well i have ended up chucking 25 pints of it, i got told from a person that the reason why it was still cloudy and too fizzy was because it had not full fermented out, so i just decided to tip it all, might have another go in a few weeks. i seem to be having better results with the wine kits at the moment so i might just stick to them.

Not good to hear about stuff going down the drain :(
Have you thought about having a go at a demijohn of cider, 5 cartons of juice, bit of sugar and yeast and you're good to go for under 3 quid, and it works.
First batch made 9.4%. crystal clear :D
Have tamed it down now ;)
Just do a search on turbo cider loads of info.
