Recently opened, located on John Bright Street opposite Brewdog. Small, quirky and interestingly decorated - a range of tea and coffee, hot chocolates (friend had the mexican with chilli and cinnamon) and cupcakes for non drinkers. Lots of well priced food (between £5 and £10 a meal, most around £8) - I had the pulled pork, certainly had worse! Home made chips were great. Mates recommend the pancakes.
Big selection of bottles from around the world, I guess about 50-60 at the time, mostly belgian but a bit of everything. About 10 handpulls with everything from Revolutionaire's Craft Lager (quite enjoyed a pint of it!) to Imperial Stout, and some oddities like Cookie Beer, Coconut Beer (tastes like pina colada, so sweet) a few Lambics/Sours and also some nice spirits, rum and vodka etc. Staff were helpful in making choices and very patient too, felt very welcome.
Friendly atmosphere all over including the saturday night bouncers (one of who was collecting bottles and chatting to customers,) nice location (right next to a shop and 3 mins from New Street Station, easy taxis from New Street and Mailbox) and open until 1am. Got pretty busy after a while but still comfortable. Hope it stays just secret enough to be a hangout.
Only thing I can say in critique is that lower ABV bottled beers were hard to come by (I was a bit wonky by the end of the night) and the American IPA selection was decent but could easily be much better.
Worth a visit!
