Hi,

One of my favourite beers is Sam Adams Cherry Ale, I've only ever had it at the Sam Adams brewery on Boston....but happily I travel there regularly on business :D

As I write I am drinking a Samuel Smith Organic Cherry Ale which is more of a fruit beer than a beer with a hint of fruit, if you know what I mean? Anyway, I am interested in making a kit beer and adding a cherry background flavour, is this as simple as buying a fruit flavour additive/extract and adding to the brew?

Any advice welcome.

Someone is brewing a stout I think using the Lowicz Cherry syrup from Polish delis.
I can't find the cherry but have some of the raspberry which is really good.
It might be worth splitting a batch and try some in primary and another as a primer for secondary to see which gives the required flavouring.

That sounds interesting, so if I get any sort of fruit extract or puree and use that as a primer it should work? Taking that on a step further, if I make a fruit syrup by boiling up the fruit and sugar, then strain and put it in the bottle as the primer I presume I will get the same effect? Only concern is how much to use!

Thanks

R
