Hi everyone,

I'm completely new to home-brewing. Just got my Coopers starter kit, and spent the night before last unfixing and fixing shelves in a cupboard to accommodate. Last night I started the brew. But I've possibly done an unbelievably stupid thing ... which I guess is what your first brew if for!!

Cheers,

Colin

Welcome to the forum Colin. Lots of great info on here!

Now, what did you do or not do that was stupid? :-)

Thanks Baz, Dennis and err ... Dave the Robot.

Don't really know if it was stupid or not. Didn't add sugar with my Coopers IPA kit. Not sure if I needed to. If it'll all be fine. If I should now. Or whatever. Posted it viewtopic.php?f=36&t=43550

welcome to the forum colinc ...

if it says it needs sugar then yes add it now ...
iv not done this kit so dont no if it needs it .. :thumb: .

but if it does ...

just put it in a pan add half a pint of boiling water to completely disolve it ...
then stand the pan in cold water till its nice and cool then add it gentley to your brew ...

try not to splash it ...
then with your paddle or long spoon gentley stir it in ...

it wll be fine ...
just add a few days to your fermentation .. :thumb: .

the other day i did do a woodfordes wherry kit that dont need sugar added ...

i no this as iv done this kit before ...

but like a plonker i put 1kg of brewing sugar in ...
then realised i shouldnt have ...

but iv been told on here thats ok it will just be thinner and stronger ...

so never give up on a brew always ask .... :thumb:

regards mick... :hat: .
