Hi first post, and probably a bit of a mad question.

Can anyone see any issue with adding another element to a central heating boiler an using it for the boil.

At the moment i am using an aluminium stock pot that I heat on my kitchen stove. I have serious problems keeping a aggressive boil on the go.

I have a plumber friend that has too old boilers going spare and he he doesn't mind starting a bit of a project. Its iether that or get a propane burner.

I would like to know if anyone has done anything similar and if so if they have any advice?

Cheers.

A Foker propane burner off Hamilton Gas products on Ebay for £40.00 and rated at 8.8kwh is probably Your best bet. I've just bought one and they really do perform well.

I've used a 0.5-1 bar regulator and Man does it give out some heat set at it's 0.5 setting.

I'm nervous about setting it higher than 0.5 bar though.

Would be interesting to hear from anyone Who has used one too!

No :thumb:
There are a few copper central heating boiler conversions knocking about on the web, using single or double immersion elements. It will probably need a very thorough cleaning before use though. Seems like a great way of recycling them to me :drink:

cheers guys, it sounds I'll either have to get my wallet out or my rubber gloves! sounds like the latter given the finacial climate!

Have the same burner had it for a while now itl heat 35 litres of water up to 90C in about 15 min easy especially when turned up to 1 bar and at 1.5 bar it will make the bottom skirt of a keg glow red while heating the water uses loads of gas at that rate of flow though and is on the virge of blowing the flame out .

All I can say is im sure the 8.8 Kw is a low estimation of these burners they are just so good.
