I ended up with about 45L @ 1043 as I still haven't dialed the brewery in yet as waiting to finish the HERMS, talking of which I used the spent grain to do a wet, dry run of the the HERMS system. All worked well :-)

So next brew will be the dial in and baseline brew :-)

Control box: left PID is measuring HE outlet temp and controlling the Cygnets 3KW element. Right PID is just acting as a thermometer measuring the mash temp.

The Cygnet urn (no leaks, rather shocking for me):

Hoping to brew again as soon as the above is out of the fermenter ;-)

SHould be interesting to see how it ends up BM.
I just did an extract with Amarillo. It's been bottled about a week and a half. I tried one the other night lovely hops but a bit sweet for me. 60g amarillo 60 m boil 3Kg Spraymalt 21L length.
I want to do one again.
Should I just up the amarillo for added bitterness or would I be better using something else, gon't want the fruity amarillo's to overpower the flavour?
 Nic

I'm drinking an amarillo'd beer at the moment. TBH, I find the amarillo flavour a bit overpowering. Certainly do smell nice when they're boiling though, but its not as bitter as I'd hoped. Maybe use a more neutral hop for bittering?
