Hi

I am looking at building a brewtree style setup but trying to avoid all the butane bottles and gas feeds. I was wondering what your thoughts were on whether I could use a could of catering urn (like a Burco 27ltr Water Boiler with thermostatic control) for the hot liquor tank and the boil kettle, are there disadvantages

I would appreciate any inmformation

That's brilliant advice thank you.

Just to confirm though, do you agree with my assessment that the use of a electric thermostatically controlled boiler will give me good flexibility (i.e temperature control) without the hastle of using gas and that I could use this method for both the hot liquor tank and the other as a boil kettle (buy two of these boilers).

Absolutely.

Although the thermostats are On or off . . .so you either have a full boil or a simmer , , ,there is no way to control the vigour of the boil . . . but That can be done using a Phase Angle Controller . . . and is only really required on the boiler . . . the Thermostat on the HLT is more than adequate to do the job
